Broken Windows Media Player 12 on Windows 7

These seemed to have worked for me when media player didnt load on windows 7. (wmp 12 : Remember you cant uninstall/reinstall windows media player, but you can add/remove from windows components. I dont think doing this fixes any driver issues like a fresh install would).

Ran this as Admin on command prompt. If you are using UAC, then All Programs -> Accessories -> Right click on CommandPrompt and select run as admin

1.) sfc /scannow

2.) If sfc doesnt work, then on the same command prompt try
type "regsvr32 jscript.dll" and press enter.
type "regsvr32 vbscript.dll" and press enter.

Also worth having some registry cleaners check you registry. Tweaknow seems to work best for me.

Got worked up and tried this after reading a DIY article...i strongly recommend against it...tried a complicated optics arrangement to get a 360 view...it cost me a lot $$$$ to correct the small mistake of using a convex instead of a concave lens !!

After an interesting week, where i broke one laptop and dropped the other into a pool, I back to the future with a desktop :))

It was really beautiful outside in the morning, so i slept till 11 :P; then got my car washed. Saw some friends for lunch.

If you are holding some important information in your thumb drive, make it a point to encrypt it. As these flash drives get larger(4-8GB is common now), its only natural we tend to back up a part or most of our hard drive files to it.

There was a recent report that 1 in 7 usb drives are lost in 6 months. Encryption is easy to do and will save you a LOT of headache.

Fitness Assessment..

Went to the 24hr fitness gym after a year. Had some for of orientation / fitness assessment. This is kind of how it went

Instructor: Did you finish your warm up?
HD: yeah .

Instructor: What did you do?
HD: Go for a Jog.

Instructor: And how long was that?
HD: 60 minutes.

Instructor: Really?
HD: No.
HD: Was more of like 30 minutes walk and 30 minutes jog.

Instructor: Really
HD: No.
HD: I just saw the clock, maybe something like 10 minutes walk 2 minutes of jogging.

Instructor: You must have some pretty good stamina
HD: Really?
Instructor: NO!

... and with that he put me through some stretching exercises. During the various moves, i kind of felt that part of my lungs, liver, kidney and legs were separating ways from me. Like they wanted to stay back as thank you gift.

Just helped set up monitoring on a couple of gaming pc's..its fun to see temp cpu and network graphs spike during a assult in unreal!!..

The Incredible Hulk - 2 green giants tearing up NYC for 10$

I am guessing that this story line is as good as it can get when your entire movie is focused on someone who turns big, green and yells at everything. I went to this one pretty confident that it couldnt worse than the first movie. If the first movie left a bitter taste in your mouth and a feeling of going hulk on the director, this one is a definite relief. Darwin's theory should have made that set to go extinct :P. It was decent fun, go check it out.

Oh and i heard an interesting discussion on my way back. A couple of kids were discussing about the movie. One was wondering whether the larger you are the more stupid you become, something on lines of size being inversely proportional to intelligence. We know its not true, but its interesting to see how these movies can be of influence.

Hell, I have had someone ask me if Indians like "Monkey Brains. Effect of an Indiana Jones Movie. (And a lot of us are vegetarians !).

Yes they make wonderfull literature to study, not because they are so complex, we have to ponder over it for hours at a stretch..the beauty of his work is make someone think deeper without sophisticated use of words..what a magician :)...

This one cud be an expection..instead of taking it at face value as we take his other work, we need to think deeper..ie go to the shady PSYCHO level ...

I am currently working on a research topic for a class. I was busy googling away , when i heard a bunch of guys sitting near me at meyers( a library here at stanford) talk about a programming assignment that was making them go crazy.

I was immediately pushed 3 months into the past. OMG!!...it was the busiest and the scariest part of my life. I had taken a programming assignment based course without actually evaluating the pros and cons of taking it along with other tough courses. what followed is really hard to explain.

It was a period of time when sleep was a prized possesion. I hardly got any sleep. constant coding wrecked not only my eyes but also my eating patern and sleep schedule. The good thing about this was, that when we finished the quarter , the week that followed was the happiest week ever !!..I looked at the devastated dudes near me and told to myself , dont worry it will be over soon and you will learn an very important lesson..all the best :)...

okie let me get back to googling for pictures..i mean pdfs :D...

Yeahooo thala padam pathu kuthuadichachu (translated -> seen rajinis latest movie). split personality theme again. Of late i am on a spree to watch only these schizophrenic movies. I was obessed with the movie called "fight club" for quite a while..such was my extent to my fascination, that once i went outside and tried to kick the crap out of me to get my dual personality going...why u ask do i need another personality..well to be frank, i am bored being the sweet good loving kid for 21 years of my life. wanna have fun being the bad boy for a while :D.....coming back to the movie, chandramukhi is definitely worth a visit to the theatre...i so miss the thrill in being at a theatre back home when rajinis movie is released...Its something to watch the movie silently and its totally something else to go to the movie and come out without even having heard more tahn a few words before cheering and have a sore throat....LONG LIVE OUR SUPERSTAR :)..

hey all,

First a very happy new year and yes happy pongal too..;).
This is a blog living upto my promise of writing once atlest every year..hehe.how am i?..Well, I am doing fine, still trying to keep my head above the waters here. the workload is simply stunning. they have this quarter system which basically is 3 months and within this we have weekly homeworks and depending on courses regular programming assts that make the coding we did for our project childs play etc etc. Yes is tough....but its also an A.M.A.Z.I.N.G place to be. the people you get to meet here are too good. will update some pics when i get the time. The summer intership placements are about to start in full swing. i got a few companies last quarter and hoping to get a few more , so that i can have a choice of where i am goign to work.

The bay area is really the place to be for the EE guys. anything and everything u can possibly think of is already happening here. went to a few vista points during this break. overall having fun. will tell you more soon.

let me tell u my story !!! buckle up..screen shutters open..and ........ladies and gentleman welcome to the screening of ................................................................

Saturday morning..7.30 Am > really early in the morning, but H wakes up to go to haary potter movie with his friends. little does he realise he going to be witnessing a live show soon.

8.30 -12.00 > Steps out of the theatre a relieved man. He is tired of the endless incantations and continuos bashing from kids who thought their arm was a wand and waved it everywhere , most of which landed on H. H gets suspecious abt the fellow who talked abt probability of a hit and miss a few days ago.

12.15> H comes home to find the house empty. finds a note from his mom saying that she has gone to visit some cuzins and will come back in the evening .

4> after more than an hour in net H gets slisha hungry. after using almost all of his will power to resist the temptation of ordering a pizza , H on an impulse decides to make poories. "deadly choice" . H decides to suprise ppl by making side dish with panner. ( H still regrets the impulse .. esp teh decision to make poories !!! )

note: before going further one must know that H has cooked before and has been on a cooking spree of late to the dismay of the ppl who sample. yes yes yes and its true, that he had gone strength to strength from making a dosa that just evaporated before he cud weld it into shape to making a dosa that resembled charcoal since he pressed it too hard and finally to a dosa thats maybe called a dosa but has an australian shape instead of a circular one. So basicaly speaking H had got the HANG of the kitchen and was mocking all guys who sounded as if cooking is the most difficult task in the world. H thought they were just putting scene and doing it to plz ppl ;).

4.15> H is on his way to self revelation . The thambalams and flats are out and are on the stove. problems start.
H now stares at the set of oil cans available . H dont know what oil to use. Even if H knew what oil, H didnt know how to differentiate.

4.20> The tambalam is getting hot and acrid smells start. H decided to give a F abt the oil and pours something after a careful inky pinky ponky , my hands all oily selection routine.

4.22> H now realises hes not done the basic stuff to put in the oil. He Shuts down the oil system and opens the pillsbury wheat . H realises he has forgot how to do it. H being arrongant decides on a combination himself and stops when the mixture rougly looked the same texture as it was when H did the same with mom supervising.

4.25> H heats the stove and after a few mins throws in the almost circular base into the oil. H waits..and waits for a poorie to happen...well it doesnt. H carefull picks it out of the frying pan and throws it out.

4.30> H now tries a new combination. more water he says grining to himself. Then as H puts the stuff into the oil , all hell breaks lose. Some particles travelling at near light speeds exit the oil frying pan as if they have been fired from it. since H is in the proximity he is subjected to max damage.

IMPORTANT NOTE: but H still believes everything wud have been orderly if H on the fight to control the spitting of frying pan mistaking poured water into the pan thinking it was oil. After a few mins of literall Firefight, H triumphs in stopping the thing at teh end . But this incident devastates his ego and the free will to enter kitchen to cook food.

H also belives it was bcos of the sudden loud playing of manmatha rasa song in the neighbourd that led his poor soul to forget that he had water in the jug not oil.

5:10> H dials pizza hut and busies himself with oil burns for the 30 mins it takes for food to arrive.

so u see ramji, i was doing ok in supervision. It was just a stupid impulse,poor selection and bad luck that got me out of action for a few days. but am back in buisness now. dude have tried out making fried stuff. its easy and yummy too. I made vadas yesterday and trust me its EASYYY.

dear boys and girls, a suggestion from ur chef friend.
There is this book by some lady called malika badrinath. its has hell lot of recipies that u can try out. Super kewl. I think she comes in jaya tv at 6 in the evening . neway the book is nice and easy. i got the one which deals with cookin with a microwave.

Immunization spree

Got my white bloods up to mark today. Took some vaccines like mmr and all and went to the new Harry potter movie. I still dont know what pained me more. 4 doses of baby immunizations or the 2 hr baby film.

b4 u start shouting, i am a major HP fan. love the book. the movie was CRAP. The script changed so that the director can show us Special Effects.

It was radically useless. However needless to say , the kids in the theatre loved it. Harry potter still held their charm. It was fun to hear all the "Magical" incantations to hrd b4 theya re told. and a chota boy shouted his heart out when harry fell from the broom. why im saying all this is...with such a following , a more carefully planned movie wud have made shrek2 look like a flop.
